Hey there! I am Kim, the person behind kim goes solo.
I am a 26 years old, Berlin-based girl with a passion for other cultures, traveling and adventures. While I do have a full-time job I write this blog as a hobby and side project.
Since I was a kid I was always feeling the need to “leave”. I could not stay home for an entire weekend without experiencing something exciting.
In 2013 I went on my first oversea trip. It was a three months long school exchange with a host family in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2017 I went backpacking for the first time and fell in love with Thailand and South East Asia. 2018 I studied in Guadalajara, Mexico for a semester abroad during my bachelor’s degree. Right after I went on my first solo trip to Colombia. While I absolutely loved Colombia and all the people I met during this trip, I especially fell in love with the freedom of traveling solo. No compromises, no discussions, no cutting short. Just me and my backpack and the desire to go everywhere this journey would take me.
When I am not traveling you can probably find me trying different sports, spotting the best plant-based food around the city and meeting up with friends in a café or bar.
Some of my travel highlights so far:
- Snorkling whale sharks and sea lions in Mexico
- Seeing wild orangutans in Borneo
- Backpacking through Sri Lanka with two stranger girls I just met
- Climbing the rainbow mountain in Peru
- Spending three days in the Uyuni Salt Dessert in Bolivia
- Doing a 12km solo hike in the Cocora valley of Colombia
- Diving on Koh Tao in Thailand
